For those lucky divers making their first trip to Channel Islands National Park you are in for a memorable experience. But please note that California diving is unlike many parts of the world. Here you don’t drop into the current and drift behind a dive master. Instead we anchor securely on a dive site next to the island. Using both bow and stern anchors the boat stays over the site.

In the water you can set your own pace, take photos of brightly colored Garibaldi or swim through the giant kelp forests. There is no need to make long swims, we put you right over the best spots in depths between 25 and 50 feet. Dive at your leisure and explore what interests you.

All trips depart at 7AM but boarding is at 6. We have a hot breakfast ready when you arrive and we get all our briefings completed at the dock. The Spectre returns to the harbor around 4PM. During the day we explore three dive sites. New divers, seasoned divers, snorkelers, and photographers all love diving the Channel Islands.

California Channel Islands’ Scuba Dive Trip Highlights

  • Departs from Ventura Harbor at 7AM and returns around 4PM.

  • Each trip is a full day adventure, featuring three dives from start to finish.

  • Dive excursions are offered all year to Anacapa or Santa Cruz Islands on Saturday and Sunday. Weekdays are seasonal.

  • Meals, drinks, and snacks are included, featuring a BBQ lunch and our famous brownie sundaes.

  • Rent scuba or snorkel gear online. Rental is stored and available onboard, allowing for seamless swaps or add-ons throughout the day.

  • Air fills are included. Bring one tank, or rent one from us. There is no need to swap your gear between dives.

Spectre Boat Features

  • 85-foot aluminum hull. Largest dive boat in California.

  • Two air compressors are onboard for fast fills. Tanks are filled at your dive station.

  • Imported, domestic, and craft beer is available after diving (not included).
